BEYOND THE GAME

About
THE FULL STORY
The reality of being a student-athlete is rarely discussed.
Yes— you wear your gear on campus, miss class for away games, wake up at the crack of dawn for training— but beneath the big wins and team bonding lies a side few talk about.
The sport I loved all my life— that occupied my weekends, took me all over the country, taught me valuable life lessons, led me to lifelong connections and purpose— also became the one that made me dread waking up, isolate myself, and slip into a downward spiral that I couldn’t seem to escape. I quickly found myself resentful towards soccer despite all it has done for me. From a bad coach, toxic teammates, a losing season, lack of playing time, a brutal knee blowout, and things in between, I was forced to face the other side of what being a student-athlete meant.
Beyond the Game was created to be a resource that student-athletes can look towards when they are enduring these experiences themselves. To be the space I needed when I was struggling physically, mentally, and emotionally. A place for student-athletes to turn to when the pressure gets heavy, the identity starts to blur, the love for the game feels lost, or the road to recovery is daunting. This isn’t about giving up. It’s about honoring every part of the athlete experience— the highs, the lows, the doubt, and most of all, the growth.
Because you are more than your sport. And you are never alone.
